Print Pull Slips (Document Delivery)

The Print Pull Slips page in the ILLiad Staff Web Client allows staff to print pull slips for document delivery transactions. These pull slips guide staff in locating and retrieving items from the library's collection. This page displays a list of transactions in the appropriate status and provides controls for printing and routing.

Overview

This printing page is located under Doc Del > Print Pull Slips and provides the same functionality as the desktop client's print pull slips process.

Page Structure

The Print Pull Slips page displays:

  1. Transaction List - Shows all document delivery transactions that need items pulled from the stacks
  2. Refresh Button - Updates the list to show current transactions
  3. Print Button - Prints and routes the selected transactions

Transaction List

The transaction list displays key information for each transaction, typically including:

  • Transaction Number (TN)
  • Patron name
  • Title
  • Author
  • Call number
  • Location
  • Article/chapter information
  • Date needed
  • Special instructions

The list automatically includes all transactions in the relevant status that are ready for pull slip printing.

Using the Refresh Button

Click the Refresh button to update the transaction list with the most current data. This is useful when:

  • Multiple staff members are processing transactions simultaneously
  • New requests have been added to the queue
  • You need to verify that previously processed items have been removed from the list

Using the Print Button

The Print button performs the following actions:

  1. Generates pull slips for the selected transactions
  2. Routes the transactions to the next status in the workflow (typically "In Stacks Searching")
  3. Updates the transaction history

This process works the same way it does in the desktop client.

What Gets Printed

Pull slips typically include:

  • Transaction details for staff reference
  • Call number and location information
  • Bibliographic information
  • Patron information
  • Specific pages or chapters needed
  • Scanning or delivery instructions

Workflow

Typical workflow for using Print Pull Slips:

  1. Navigate to Doc Del > Print Pull Slips
  2. Review the list of transactions
  3. Click Refresh if needed to ensure you have the most current list
  4. Click Print to generate pull slips and route transactions
  5. Use the printed pull slips to locate items in the stacks
  6. Scan or photocopy the requested materials
  7. Update the transaction status after processing (using the Update Stacks Search Results page)

Tips for Efficient Processing

  • Sort pull slips by call number or location before going to the stacks
  • Print pull slips in batches at optimal times (e.g., beginning of shift)
  • Keep print supplies stocked to avoid interruptions
  • Verify printer settings before beginning a large batch
  • Use location grouping when possible to minimize travel time in the stacks
  • Mark pull slips clearly if items cannot be found for follow-up

Relationship to Desktop Client

This web-based page provides the same functionality as the desktop client's Print Pull Slips feature for Document Delivery. Staff can choose which interface to use based on their workflow preferences and access needs.
