Viewing PDFs in the ILLiad Client

In ILLiad 10, PDFs open and display natively in the client. When you import or open a PDF while scanning or processing electronic delivery, ILLiad shows the actual PDF rather than converting it to an image first, so the document stays sharp and true to the original.

TIFF and other image files continue to open in the existing image viewer; the native PDF view applies to PDF files.

Where you'll see it​

The PDF viewer appears wherever you scan or import documents in the client, including:

  • The Electronic Delivery form, when you process electronic document delivery.
  • The Scanning form used across borrowing, lending, and document delivery when you import a file.

When you import a PDF, ILLiad loads it into the PDF view automatically. Importing a TIFF or image instead switches back to the image viewer.

Working with a PDF​

Page thumbnails​

A thumbnail sidebar shows a small preview of every page. Click a thumbnail to jump straight to that page; as you move through the document, the sidebar keeps the current page highlighted.

Fitting the page to the window​

Use the Zoom group on the ribbon to control how the page fits:

  • Best Fit — fit the whole page in the window.
  • Fit Height — fit the page to the window height.
  • Fit Width — fit the page to the window width.

Printing​

You can print the PDF from the Print button:

  • Print All prints the entire document.
  • Print Selected prints only the pages you choose. Select the pages you want in the thumbnail sidebar first (hold Ctrl or Shift to select more than one), then choose Print Selected. If no pages are selected, ILLiad lets you know there's nothing to print.

The thumbnail sidebar supports selecting multiple pages, so you can send only the relevant pages of a long PDF to the printer with Print Selected.
