Customization & Designers
Aeon 7 is configured from the Customization Manager. Nearly everything you can tune about how Aeon behaves lives there: who can do what, what staff see on each record, the lists patrons pick from, the emails Aeon sends, and how requests move through your workflow.
The sections below mirror the Customization Manager's own navigation groups, so a folder here matches the group you'd click in the app.
Access is granted per group, per role. A staff member only sees the Customization Manager groups their role has the matching configuration capability for — and a direct link to a group they lack shows "You don't have permission to access this customization section." See Editing a Role: Configuration Capabilities.
In this section
- Roles, Permissions & Staff — the permissions model, building and cloning roles, field restrictions, and managing staff accounts.
- Designers — the Form, Card, Print, Queue, and Activity designers that control what staff see on requests, users, and activities. Start with the Customization Manager overview.
- Data & Fields — customization keys and tables, custom field definitions, dropdowns, and flags.
- Operations — setting up reading rooms (seats, open hours, closures, appointment policies) and your institution's contact details in Local Info.
- Integrations & Messaging — email templates and their field tags, Z39.50 catalog searching, and the OpenURL and EAD mappings.
- Web Interface — the validation rules applied to your patron web forms, and the links that attach rule sets to forms.
- Workflow — the queues requests move through.
This section is for configuring Aeon. For the everyday work of processing requests, helping patrons, and running the reading room, see Daily Work for Staff and Reading Room, Appointments & Activities.
